What is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist?

An Accredited Exercise Physiologist is a university trained Allied Health Professional, who is the most qualified health professional to prescribe graded exercise therapy and lifestyle interventions for persons at risk of developing, or with existing chronic and complex medical conditions and injuries.

How can Exercise Physiology help me?

An Exercise Physiologist can assess, design and implement an individually tailored exercise program to treat and address a wide range of conditions including but not limited to:

  • Assist in cancer treatment and rehabilitation
  • Type II diabetes (prevention and management)
  • Prehabilitation and rehabilitation for surgeries, such as joint replacements
  • Musculoskeletal rehabilitation, including joint reconstructive surgery (ACL)
  • Return to sport following soft tissue injuries
  • Managing chronic pain such as back pain
  • Managing arthritic conditions
  • Heart health
  • Improve mental health
  • And many more.
  • To educate and empower clients with the skills to self-manage their health
Medicare and Exercise Physiology

Under the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Program (also known as the Chronic Disease Management Program, CDM), clients who meet the criteria are eligible for up to five Medicare rebated sessions per calendar year. A rebate of $58.30 is available per session. Please note a referral is required from your GP to access this rebate.

Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Program – is available to clients with chronic or terminal medical conditions that require multidisciplinary care from a GP and two health care providers. Your GP needs to prepare the appropriate paperwork to access this rebate.

Private Health Insurance and Exercise Physiology

A number of private health insurance providers offer rebates for Exercise Physiology services. For the exact rebate amount, contact your health fund.

  • Review (60 mins) $85
  • Review (30 mins) $55
  • Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Sessions (30-60 mins): $77.95, Medicare Rebate of $58.30
  • NDIS Exercise Physiology (60 mins): $166.99

Contact your GP to check your eligibility. Once your GP has completed the referral (see below) contact Strong & Stable to book your first appointment.

Private Exercise Physiology Appointments

 

Contact Strong & Stable to book your first appointment. It is often helpful to bring any relevant medical information to your first appointment.

NDIS

 

Participants who have NDIS funding under the following categories may be able to access Exercise Physiology appointments at Strong & Stable:

All NDIS appointments are 60 minutes in length and are billed at the NDIS price guide rate. A service agreement will be created in consultation with the participant and support co-ordinators prior to or at your first consultation. The service agreement covers the mutual goals, expectations, reports and invoicing.
